“Our Past and Present in the Shadow of the Cold War”
An Essay Competition Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Regime Changes in the V4 Region

Eligibility: The competition is open to all MA and PhD students enrolled in a university located in a V4 country.

Topics (choose one):

1. The implications of Russia’s recent foreign policy from a V4 perspective – security policy issues

2. The successes, failures, challenges, and issues of the regime changes in the V4 countries in light of the past 25 years

3. Possibilities of institutionalisation for the Visegrád Cooperation

4. The lasting social, economic, and political effects of the Cold War on the V4 countries

Prize (first place): 160 Euros, having your essay featured in collection of essays alongside world-renowned scholars, and a gift package of books published by the Antall József Knowledge Centre (AJKC). Second and third places will also receive a gift package and get featured on AJKC’s online Research Profile.

Submission deadline: 1 December 2014

The essays will be judged by a panel of foreign policy experts from notable V4 institutions.

Language of essays: English

Length: 10 pages, including footnotes, an abstract and a list of keywords

Format: Times New Roman, size 12 (10 for footnotes), line spacing: 1.5 (single-spaced for footnotes), margin: 1” on both sides
